I worked for Norfolk Public Schools for 10 years as a teacher assistant and then I graduated from college, TCC. I went for four years – from 1996 to 2000. I went part-time for four years and worked. When I graduated from TCC, then I applied for Virginia Beach schools. I have been working as an office secretary since. I just love working with the children and I have great co-workers. I just enjoy coming to work every day because we get along so well and each day you learn something.
What prompted you to want to go to college?
I just want to learn more. I wanted to have some type of degree behind me. It gave me more confidence and I just learned a lot. I was 36.
What would you say to other people who maybe are working and want to go to college?
It’s never too late to go back to school because you learn every day and years go by so fast. It’s never too late to go back to school.
