I was in the first group of women in the Navy who went to a ship. There must have been about 100 of us who went to boot camp together, undesignated, and just went to the ship after.
After I got out I went into the reserves and ended up working at Little Creek at one of the maintenance activities and really got into computers there. They were typing everything up, all the rosters, and I told them – back then we had a word processor – “We can put it all in there and update and make changes to it then print it off.” They were thankful for that suggestion!
But that’s how I found my way to computers. Computers and walking are the two things I couldn’t do without.
I do a lot of walking. Ask anyone here and they know I walk. It’s my meditation. I walk before I come into work, then I take off at lunch and I walk, and I also dog walk.
I also really enjoy group fitness classes and am a frequent participate at the Parks and Rec centers. I usually do three or four classes a week. It’s a great way to meet new people.
