Hermitage Elementary School was named a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The school earned this prestigous distinction for its record of high student achievement despite a significant student mobility rate. More than 200 students enroll and leave Hermitage in a given school year, yet student achievement at the school continues to exceed state and national standards.

Hermitage is one of 10 schools in Virginia to achieve the honor. Hermitage previously earned a Blue Ribbon title in 2005.
“The Blue Ribbon designation for Hermitage can be attributed to the hard work of students, the dedication of parents and the caring, passionate and skilled Hermitage staff,” said Dr. Aaron Spence, superintendent of VBCPS. “The fact that this is the second time the school has earned this designation is proof that student engagement and achievement is a top priority in the Hermitage community. I am very proud of their accomplishment.”
